In fall 2019 and spring 2020, 10 institutions participated in a research study comparing student outcomes on Packback discussion to outcomes found with traditional Learning Management System discussion. In April 2020, Packback released the findings of that study in Impact of Online Discussion Platform and Pedagogy on Student Outcomes.
