The League for Innovation in the Community College is an international nonprofit organization with a mission to cultivate innovation in the community college environment.
The League serves as a catalyst for introducing and sustaining deep, transformational innovation within and across colleges and international borders to increase student success and institutional excellence.

Founded in 1968 by B. Lamar Johnson and a dozen U.S. community and technical college presidents, the League has proudly served community college institutions for over 50 years. Through these years, the League has sponsored more than 200 conferences, institutes, seminars, and workshops; published over 200 reports, monographs, periodicals, and books; led more than 160 research and demonstration projects; and provided numerous other resources and services to the community college field.
CEOs from 18 of the most influential, resourceful, and dynamic community colleges and districts in the world comprise the League’s board of directors and provide strategic direction for its ongoing activities. These community colleges and their leaders are joined by almost 345 institutions that hold membership in the League Alliance.
With this core of powerful and innovative community colleges, the League continues to fulfill its mission through conferences and institutes; online resources; research; and projects and initiatives with member colleges, corporate partners, government agencies, and private foundations in support of student and institutional success.
League activities and initiatives center on essential topics for community colleges, including diversity, equity, and inclusion; information technology; leadership development; learning and student success; research and practice; and workforce development.
Each year, the League coordinates three major national events for higher education professionals.
The League leads projects with our member colleges, corporate partners, and other agencies.
The League celebrates innovation and excellence at our member colleges with various awards.
