2024-2025 Innovation of the Year Award Winner: HACC

HawkSOAR Flightpaths to Student Success

The overarching aim of HawkSOAR is whole college transformation to support student enrollment, retention, and completion rates. Specifically, HACC is continually leaning into its data to improve our effectiveness for the student success agenda. The four HawkSOAR priorities are: (1) improve credit accumulation and decrease D, F, and withdrawal rates; (2) increase gateway course completion, especially in math and English; (3) implement clear degree pathways aligned with student goals and needs; and (4) revamp the academic advising system to ensure that all students can move in, through, and out of the college in a timely fashion. The objectives of HawkSOAR are to enhance collaboration throughout the institution by breaking down structural silos, thereby fostering a climate of collaboration and cooperation. The shift focuses on engaging everyone strategically, promoting evidence-informed practices, continuously improving learning, and aligning our work across HACC. The innovation emerged as one of the largest, most significant cross-function institutional initiatives, starting with HACC’s participation in Achieving the Dream.
