Sonja L. Howell
Biography:
Sonja L. Howell, PhD, is an Instructional Designer and Developer at Jackson College, where she supports faculty and academic teams in designing accessible, human centered learning experiences. Her work focuses on course design, faculty development, accessibility practices, and helping educators translate expectations and systems into clear, usable learning environments for students.
Dr. Howell brings experience across instructional design, assessment, and system level academic support, informed by both professional practice and lived experience in education. Her doctoral research examined how trust, choice, and mindset influence engagement and persistence, and this perspective continues to guide her work. She regularly presents on instructional design, accessibility, and educational innovation and serves as the licensee for TEDxJackson College.
