Maya Esquivido
Biography:
Maya Esquivido is an enrolled member of the Nor Rel Muk Wintu Nation, Hupa, and Chicana. She completed a BA in American Indian Studies, a Master of Social Work Degree, and a Graduate Certificate in American Indian & Indigenous Studies (AIIS). Continuing her journey in academia, she has recently been accepted into an Indigenous-Centered Educational Leadership Doctoral Program at the University of Washington. Awarded a Teaching & Curriculum Design Fellowship, Maya is a part-time professor in the American Ethnic Studies Department teaching and developing curriculum for AIIS at Seattle Central College. Alongside her fellowship at Seattle Central, Maya worked as the Program Coordinator and a co-Faculty Lead for the NEH Grant to redesign the Humanities curriculum to center Native American histories, culture, and lived realities. Currently, Maya is serving as the Social Science Faculty Coordinator at Seattle Central and interning with the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges, Tribal Government Affairs Department.
