Jenny McDermott

 

Biography:
Jenny McDermott is a dedicated social work educator with a strong foundation in child and family services. She currently serves as the Social Work Program Coordinator and Professor at Sinclair College, where she leads curriculum development, supports student success, and fosters a learning environment grounded in equity, empathy, and evidence-based practice. In addition to her faculty role, she serves as the Faculty Associate for Experiential Learning, helping to bridge classroom instruction with real-world application through meaningful community partnerships and high-impact learning experiences. Jenny holds a Master of Science in Social Administration (MSW equivalent) from Case Western Reserve University and is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the state of Ohio. Before transitioning to higher education, her professional work centered on supporting children and families through direct practice and advocacy. Her passion for social work education is rooted in her belief in the transformative power of relationships, reflective practice, and community-engaged learning. Known for her collaborative leadership style and student-centered approach, Jenny is committed to preparing the next generation of social workers to serve with integrity, cultural humility, and a deep commitment to social justice. She continues to engage in ongoing professional development and community initiatives that enhance her teaching and broaden her impact. Through both her academic and administrative work, Jenny strives to elevate experiential learning as a cornerstone of social work education?empowering students to grow as ethical, skilled, and reflective practitioners in a rapidly changing world.
