Biography:
Michael Voss serves as the Dean of Instruction for Allied Health, Applied Sciences and Technology, Business, and Computer Information Systems at Mesa Community College (MCC). He provides academic leadership for workforce and academic programs such as construction trades, cybersecurity, data center operations, welding, automotive, business, paramedicine, and emerging technology fields. Michael is widely recognized for his ability to navigate complex public systems, build high-impact partnerships, and lead program transformation through data-informed decision-making. Under his leadership, MCC?s Career and Technical Education efforts have been recognized by the League for Innovation in the Community College for accelerating student completion through Proactive Graduation, advancing the Apple Everyone Can Code initiative, and implementing scalable, data-driven strategies that strengthened enrollment, completions, and workforce alignment. His professional background includes academic operations, workforce development, multi-campus instructional leadership, program review, accreditation, and employer engagement. He has led or expanded partnerships with Boeing, Empire Caterpillar, LEAD | ROLFS Global Institute, and numerous regional employers, positioning the college as a key contributor to Arizona?s workforce and economic development ecosystem. At the national level, Michael regularly presents on labor market analysis, program economics, prior learning assessment, and strategies to accelerate student pathways. He is particularly known for translating complex data into practical, actionable strategies that help institutions grow programs, strengthen outcomes, and better align education with industry needs. Michael is deeply committed to leadership development. Prior to joining Mesa Community College, Michael served as Associate Dean overseeing Health, Wellness, and Public Safety at Central New Mexico Community College. His own journey from adjunct faculty to dean informs his belief that leadership begins with presence, clarity, and relationship-building, regardless of role or title. He actively mentors emerging leaders and encourages colleagues to see meaningful improvement as both possible and necessary at every level of an academic institution. As MCC continues to advance work in artificial intelligence integration, strategic enrollment management, and high-demand workforce partnerships, Michael?s focus remains on developing future-ready leaders who think systemically, collaborate effectively, and embrace innovation in service of students and the communities Maricopa serves.
