2024-2025 Innovation of the Year Award Winner: Wallace State Community College

Wallace State Administrative Council

Wallace State Community College's annual budget hearings process enhances institutional planning, funding allocation, and resource development. This structured process aligns funding priorities with the college's strategic goals, ensuring a comprehensive and equitable evaluation of campuswide needs. Coordinated by the Advancement and Innovation division, it integrates quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while fostering collaboration and informed decision-making. Key innovative elements include: (1) providing a transparent forum for faculty, staff, and department leaders to present needs, ensuring that funding decisions reflect excellence and student success; (2) consolidating requests into a single forum to minimize redundancy and accelerate decision-making; (3) optimizing resource allocation by aligning priorities with available funding streams; (4) making the structured framework easily replicable at other institutions; (5) integrating campuswide collaboration with strategic planning to ensure that funding priorities are data-informed and future-focused; and (6) conducting the process annually to address emerging needs promptly.
