2022-2023 Innovation of the Year Award Winner: College of DuPage

Immersive Visualization Lab

The College of DuPage is committed to providing the absolute best educational experience for our students. Besides the expertise of our faculty, we are also investing in the development of innovative technologies in instructional methodology for the next generation of learners as part of our Enhancing Education initiative. Growing up in a high-tech world, today’s student needs and expectations have evolved, and instruction must also evolve to meet their needs. We recently deployed a Virtual and Augmented Reality Lab, but have now taken the next step by unveiling an Immersive Visualization Lab—a true visual learning experience. Students and other visitors are surrounded by a fully enclosed 8-foot high, 10-meter diameter, 360-degree projection of images and full-motion video supplemented by fully immersive audio. Besides using available content for numerous disciplines, faculty can easily create their own content using a 360-degree camera, which enables them to customize the learning experience to their exact needs.
