Community college faculty will discuss their experiences in teaching infection control and integrating Project Firstline principles and resources into coursework and practicum/clinical experiences. Panelists provide real-world examples for preparing students for the healthcare workplace.

12:30 - 2:00 PM ET           Enhancing Infection Control: Curriculum Workshops, Part 1

Attendees will work with Project Firstline Curriculum Coaches on identifying where the Infection Control Themes intersect with current program coursework. Teams will become familiar with the Curriculum Map document and identify where the Project Firstline objectives are taught in their program. This session focuses on the program level dissemination of objectives.

Senior Associate Director of Advocacy within the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) Jonathan Flannery will be speaking to infection prevention within the physical environment of a healthcare setting. Jonathan will be informing on the science of ventilation, hierarchy of controls, and everyone’s individual responsibility for infection prevention.

Attendees will build upon the work completed on the Curriculum Map used in the Curriculum Workshop Part 1 by further delineating objectives and teaching methods. The Curriculum Snapshot document will be used in this workshop to assist attendees in identifying current and potential future instructional methods and learning tools to teach each Project Firstline objective. This session focuses on the objective level dissemination of information.
