CCPI-STEM THOUGHT LEADERS DIALOGUE: STRENGTHENING CAPACITY AT RURAL AND SMALL COLLEGES

The League for Innovation in the Community College (League) and the Community College President's Initiative in STEM (CCPI-STEM) are excited to invite you to the second Thought Leaders Dialogue for STEM Education and the National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (NSF ATE) Funding Program on February 9, 2024, from 12:00 - 1:30 PM Eastern Time.

In our quest to amplify the voices of small and rural community colleges and gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of and needs for NSF ATE funding, three distinguished panelists will share insights and lessons learned.

  • Dr. Jill Loveless, President, Rural Community College Alliance
  • Dr. Wesley Beddard, NC East Alliance and Retired President, Martin Community College
  • Dr. Laura Berry, Director, Institutional Partnerships and Special Initiatives, North Arkansas College

As leaders at your colleges – presidents, provosts/vice presidents for Academic Affairs, deans, department chairs, faculty, and grants officers – who may have received at least one NSF ATE grant award, have applied but not received an award, or have never applied, you are invited to share your experiences during the breakout session.

Why engage with the League and CCPI-STEM?

  • Only about 20% of the nation’s community colleges have NSF ATE Grants, and many of those have received multiple grants.
  • The call for a diverse workforce in STEM to fill more than 1.6M current openings and more to come is strong.
  • Community colleges are uniquely positioned to answer the call and access NSF ATE grants in support of innovation and transformation in program development, industry/business partnerships, and meeting current and projected workforce needs.
