Ripple Effects Impacting Community Colleges
The pandemic has threatened college degree attainment in ways that will be felt for years—and no sector was hit harder than community colleges. With enrollments down, developing a robust student success strategy is more critical than ever. But what long-term success challenges might stand in our way across the next decade, and what do we do to head them off? In this session, learn what the presenter calls the "pandemic ripple effects," or the key trends impacting college completion and equity gaps in the 2020s. Participants will leave with research-driven guidance on how their institutions can act now to address four critical student success challenges: enrollment changes, K-12 disruption, student mental health, and the staffing crisis.

Entrepreneuring the Future of Community Colleges
Community colleges will require a radical transformation to meet their ever-increasing financial demands, fulfill their missions, and thrive in this post-pandemic era. To do this, presidents and administrators must become entrepreneurs, practicing self-disruption to reimagine and reinvent their institutions to become more relevant and connected to the needs of society, business, industry, and students. Panel presentations will include (1) an overview of entrepreneuring in the future, with examples of entrepreneurial leaders from across the nation who have put into action one or more innovations to move their institutions forward in challenging times; and (2) college presidents who have implemented Higher Education Innovation entrepreneuring best practices that have resulted in substantial advancements for their institutions. The panel will respond to questions from participants about their entrepreneurial successes and offer advice for other presidents seeking institutional transformation.

Participants will leave with a matrix of new 2023 state laws and regulations, a New Year Cyber Resiliency Checklist, an overview of International Organization for Standardization Risk Management and Cybersecurity Standards, and an Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks list.

Securing Competitive Advantage
As competition with out-of-sector employers grows and new disruptions to the labor market emerge, talent strategy has become a cabinet-level concern. Institutional leaders must move beyond panic hiring and desperation retention and turn their attention to building the infrastructure needed to attract and retain employees as a new set of challenges looms. This session will help campus leadership teams build a shared understanding of talent challenges and imperatives, and identify immediate steps to bolster their competitiveness as an employer.
