Flexible Classroom for Remote Learning and Instruction
During the reimagining of the student learning experience as our students returned to campus following the pandemic, the need for a flexible learning space that supported instruction to both in-person and remote students became a necessity. Over the course of nine months leading up to the fall 2021 semester, a collaborative group of faculty and IT staff designed and implemented a flex classroom to include technologies and automations to support this new modality. These designs were piloted with faculty, then further refined based on user feedback. The Flex Classroom for Remote Learning and Instruction allows faculty to add another learning dimension and provide remote flexibility to our students when they are unable to attend class on campus, whether that is due to illness, transportation challenges, child care issues, or any number of other difficulties that can make it challenging to attend in-person.
