Iowa Community College Student Life Coalition

Iowa’s 15 community colleges and Student Life professionals came together in June 2020 to share ideas and resources and to, ultimately, create a virtual calendar of 150+ events for the 2020-2021 academic year. Virtual events, which students across the state could attend together, included weekly activities (trivia, bingo, movies, and workouts) as well as stand-alone events (an American Idol winner, comedians, gameshows, and several speakers or educational events). The range of topics throughout the year included student leadership, LGBTQ issues, diversity, sexual assault awareness, mental health, civic engagement, health and wellness, money management, human trafficking, and others. The average cost per school for all 150+ events was just $3,885 and an average of 270.4 students attended each live online event.
