Isothermal-Trelleborg International Internship Program
Isothermal Community College (ICC), in alliance with Trelleborg Group, headquartered in Sweden, has developed an international internship program. Trelleborg’s North American Coated Fabrics Rutherfordton facility has partnered with ICC to provide a diagnostic and problem-solving experience for students from Engineering Technology and Applied Sciences programs. The local facility has provided a project for the students to analyze and report findings. Four students will work to define and standardize a best practice for maintenance on the equipment that applies rubber coating to fabrics. The students will work to observe, monitor, and measure the process. Then, the students will travel to the Sweden to visit a sister facility and observe equipment similar to that which is in the Rutherfordton facility. After completing the observation, the students will present findings from the Rutherfordton facility to the Swedish managers. This presentation will include recommended practices.
