App2Cap: Personalized Advising From Application to Graduation
Tallahassee State College’s App2Cap shifts advising from reactive to proactive through a technology-enabled, student-centered model grounded in the CARE framework and aligned with the Community College Research Center’s Ask-Connect-Inspire-Plan approach. Students are contacted within 1-2 days of applying, complete career assessments, and are assigned to a dedicated advisor who builds a tailored first-term schedule and long-term academic plan for them. Ongoing engagement, career exploration, and proactive outreach keep students on track. App2Cap’s six pillars—professional development, caseload advising, career connections, advising bundle, academic recovery, and graduation preparation—drive results: 96% of students have customized plans, satisfaction exceeds 90%, enrollment has grown for 10 consecutive semesters, headcount increased 7.2% in fall 2025, students have fewer excess credits with cost-savings, and fall-to-fall graduates rose 20.9% from fall 2024 to fall 2025.
