Classroom Upgrades: Innovative Technology Solutions
In an era where digital fluency is essential, Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) continues to transform the traditional audio-visual classroom into an interactive, engaging learning environment through innovative technology upgrades. This ongoing initiative represents a significant redesign of the pre-digital classroom A/V previously used for teaching and learning. The updated designs include a comprehensive suite of technology enhancements in classrooms and labs, providing faculty additional resources to deliver technology-rich learning experiences and enhance engagement, collaboration, and student achievement. The research, development, testing, and delivery of these technology solutions began in 2019 through a highly collaborative process that integrated feedback from faculty, administrators, business partners, and industry experts. The design concepts were informed by site visits to leading high schools, community colleges, and universities, ensuring that each solution reflected best practices in modern learning environments. The original ITS team is leading the research and development efforts to upgrade approximately 180 classrooms to date.
