The League for Innovation has published its January 2026 issues of Leadership Abstracts, Learning Abstracts, and Innovation Showcase, featuring timely articles that spotlight innovative strategies for community college success across transfer systems, cross-institutional collaboration, and workforce alignment.

In Leadership Abstracts, An Innovative Approach to Transfer Pathways at Delta College, David P. Hopkins, Jr., explores how Delta College redesigned its transfer agreements and pathways to better track and support students’ progress toward bachelor’s degrees. Hopkins details the intentional development of discipline-specific transfer pathways—beginning with history and psychology programs—and the importance of faculty engagement and structured advising to improve transfer outcomes.

The latest issue of Learning Abstracts features Bridging the Divide: Addressing Barriers to Cross-Institutional Collaboration Through the TRAVE Framework” authored by Adrienne L. Provost, Matthew J. Traum, Angela M. Kohnen, Theresa J. Cothren, Catherine Diaz, Jodi Doher, Jacki L. Garcia, and Jimmy Yawn. This article examines structural, cultural, and interpersonal challenges that hinder meaningful collaboration between community colleges and universities. The authors introduce the TRAVE framework—focusing on Transparency, Relevancy, Authenticity, Vulnerability, and Equity—as a practical model for designing collaborative programs that build stronger institutional partnerships and enrich student learning experiences.

In Innovation Showcase, “From Training to Credential: Aligning TDCJ Officer Development With Postsecondary Workforce Pathways” by Braden Reed, Jarod Bleibdrey, and Christi Morgan highlights a workforce-aligned partnership between Coastal Bend College and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This initiative recognizes existing officer training through continuing education units and occupational awards that count toward college credentials, removing barriers and advancing professional development for correctional officers while strengthening regional workforce pathways.

These publications continue the League’s tradition of sharing actionable insights and innovative practices that support student success, institutional collaboration, and community impact in the community college sector.
