As community colleges continue to navigate fast-changing expectations for talent development, student success, and institutional transformation, the League for Innovation’s July 2026 publications offer a timely look at how colleges are turning possibility into progress.

The July issue of Leadership Abstracts, “Where Potential Meets Opportunity: Cultivating Next-Generation Leaders,” by Calvin J. Gantt and Kimberly F. DeLardge, examines the urgent need for intentional leadership development across community colleges. This article emphasizes how institutions can identify emerging talent, create meaningful mentorship pathways, and prepare future leaders to guide colleges through complexity with vision and resilience.

In Learning Abstracts, Emma Swinney’s “Implementation of Math Pathways in Kansas and Promising Early Results at Johnson County Community College” highlights statewide and institutional efforts to redesign mathematics education around students’ academic and career goals. By moving beyond a single standardized math sequence, the author describes how math pathways can improve relevance, persistence, and early student outcomes, with JCCC offering promising evidence of the model’s potential.

This month’s issue of Innovation Showcase turns to workforce responsiveness with “Chandler-Gilbert Community College’s Quick-Start Model: Accelerating Workforce Development,” by Gabriela Rosu. The article explores how CGCC’s Quick-Start model enables the college to respond rapidly to employer needs by developing focused, industry-aligned training that helps learners move efficiently from preparation to employment.

Together, the July 2026 issues of Leadership AbstractsLearning Abstracts, and Innovation Showcase reflect the ongoing commitment of community colleges to elevating practical strategies, bold ideas, and replicable innovations that strengthen their institutions and the communities they serve.
