HCCC-Eastern Millwork Holz Technik Registered Apprenticeship Program
Hudson County Community College (HCCC) and Eastern Millwork (EMI) instituted the Holz Technik Registered Apprenticeship Program to educate and train talented tinkerers and create a pipeline of skilled engineers. EMI, an industry-leading custom architectural woodwork manufacturer, utilizes technological innovation to create high-end designs. Clients include some of the nation’s most prestigious corporations and locations. The program ensures student-apprentices’ success and provides them with a debt-free Associate in Applied Science in advanced manufacturing from HCCC as well as a Bachelor of Science in technical studies from Thomas Edison State University upon program completion. After five years, apprentices earn $70,000 and have strong résumés to propel them to long-lasting careers with family-sustaining wages. The program provides EMI with educated, experienced engineers who are essential to the company’s and the area’s economic growth. The program is a national model for workforce development, one that New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy cited as “an example of the blueprint for New Jersey’s economic future.”
