The League for Innovation in the Community College’s November 2026 publications arrive with a clear message: Innovation grows when colleges invest in people, evidence, and access. This month’s issues of Leadership Abstracts, Learning Abstracts, and Innovation Showcase highlight forward-looking practices across community college leadership development, grant strategy, and experiential learning.

In Leadership Abstracts, “Creating the Next Generation of Leaders at Cuyahoga Community College: The Mandel Leadership Development Program,” Shannon Auber, Nanci Coleman, Tim Niemann, Mely Sato, Danielle Schwager, and Emily Tidball examine how Cuyahoga Community College is preparing emerging leaders through a structured development initiative. The article describes the Mandel Leadership Development Program as a model for cultivating institutional talent, strengthening succession planning, and supporting employees as they build the skills needed to guide colleges through change.

The November issue of Learning Abstracts, “Engineering a Fundable Narrative: Integrating Institutional Data for Workforce Grants,” by Pratham Yadav, is focused on how colleges can use institutional data more strategically to shape compelling workforce grant proposals. Yadav discusses the importance of aligning labor market needs, student outcomes, program capacity, and community impact into a cohesive narrative that resonates with funders and supports long-term workforce development goals.

In Innovation Showcase, “Beyond the Classroom: Reimagining Grant Funding to Expand Access to Geology Field Experiences,” Jessica Barone and Amanda Colosimo highlight an inventive approach to broadening participation in hands-on geology learning. The authors demonstrate how grant funding can help reduce barriers to field experiences, making high-impact learning opportunities more accessible to students who might otherwise be unable to participate.

The November articles underscore the community college sector’s continued commitment to leadership, evidence-based innovation, and equitable student opportunity.
