The Dean of Career, Technical & Workforce Education (CTE) is a key member of Glendale Community
College’s academic leadership team, responsible for strengthening career-focused education, expanding
workforce pathways, and advancing innovative academic programs that respond to student and regional
workforce needs. This position provides leadership for career and technical education, workforce-aligned
programs, and emerging areas of program development while ensuring that academic offerings remain
responsive, relevant, and accessible to students and the communities GCC serves.

The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working at the strategic and operational levels, using labor market
and student data, employer and community input, and institutional priorities to identify opportunities for
new programs and strengthen existing ones, while ensuring effective program review, curriculum development
resource alignment, and day-to-day operations. This role requires a leader who is innovative, collaborative,
student-centered, and relationship-driven, with the ability to build strong partnerships across the college and
with employers, industry, K–12 partners, and community organizations to create clear pathways to education,
employment, and economic mobility. The Dean will play a critical role in helping GCC anticipate emerging workforce needs, cultivate program innovation, secure and leverage external resources, and connect academic programs to regional economic priorities. Success in this role will require the ability to translate emerging opportunities into sustainable programs while maintaining a strong commitment to academic quality, student success, and fiscal stewardship. This is an on-site position, offering the opportunity to work directly with faculty, staff, students, and external partners; build meaningful relationships across the campus and with industry partners; and actively contribute to the academic and workforce mission of Glendale Community College.

Essential Functions
30% - Provides strategic leadership and oversight for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Collaborates with program directors, department chairs, faculty, and staff to ensure academic quality, operational effectiveness, student success, and continuous program improvement. Ensures programs meet college, district, accreditation, regulatory, and industry standards.
30% - Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of CTE programs, projects, and strategic initiatives aligned with college priorities and evolving workforce needs. Advances innovative instructional approaches, emerging technologies, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary opportunities. Oversees budgets, grants and other funding sources, resource allocation, specialized instructional facilities and equipment, and the planning and implementation of major CTE initiatives to support program growth, effectiveness, and sustainability.
15% - Develops and sustains strategic partnerships with business and industry, economic and workforce development organizations, educational partners, and community-based organizations. Engages external partners to strengthen workforce pipelines, expand work-based learning opportunities, identify emerging skill needs, and support program growth and regional economic development.
10% - Collaborates with faculty, industry partners, and workforce stakeholders to identify current and emerging workforce trends and develop new or enhanced academic programs, curriculum, credentials, and training opportunities. Uses industry input, labor-market information, enrollment trends, and program outcomes to inform program development and resource priorities.
10% - Performs hiring and evaluation of faculty and staff. Provides leadership and support to department and program leaders and promotes professional development that strengthens teaching, leadership, technical expertise, and program effectiveness.
5% - Perform other duties as assigned in support of Academic Affairs and college priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway: Master's degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and five (5) years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three (3) years of teaching that include curriculum/coursework development. Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes: division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No degree equivalency.
OR
Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and five (5) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes three (3) years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support or non-academic pathway management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. No degree equivalency.
Desired Qualifications
A. Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership experience overseeing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in the community college.
B. Three (3) or more years of full-time teaching experience in the community colleges in a CTE related field.
C. Experience collaborating with faculty and academic leadership to advance CTE programs that promote student success, completion, and workforce readiness.
D. Experience leading comprehensive program review, assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement processes for CTE programs.
E. Experience building partnerships with industry, education, workforce, and/or community organizations to advance CTE programs and outcomes.
F. Experience managing complex budgets, grants, and/or governmental funding sources, including funding such as Proposition 301, Perkins, or other workforce and CTE-related funds
G. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years
