Position Overview:

As a Custodian 4, you will be responsible for being a key member of the team that maintains the highest level of sanitation and pristine appearances in order to help make South Seattle College a welcoming place to teach and learn.

Under the supervision of the Custodial Manager, the Custodian 4 will be responsible for the custodial services provided during the evening shift at South Seattle College and it’s satellite locations.

This position supervises Custodian 2, Custodian 3, and Grounds Crew Employees and is in-person. Day Shift, Monday through Friday 5:00am – 1:30pm.

This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

Salary range for this position is $38,099.25 - $47,044.83 per year (depending on experience).

What you will be working on:

Supervises and instructs assigned personnel.

Monitors custodial supply inventory levels and advises the Facilities Manager when supply orders are needed.

Trains new custodial staff and works with the Facilities Manager to coordinate recurring training of custodial staff.

Monitors work orders and assigns staff as needed.

Performs weekly building and grounds inspections as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Performs monthly equipment inspections as assigned by the Facilities Manager.

Works with the Facilities Manager to determine staffing for buildings and events.

Trains custodial staff on proper carpet and hard floor cleaning.

Lead the Covid-19 Disinfection Response Team (DRT) as trained by the Manager of Environmental Health & Safety and as directed by the Facilities Manager

Inspects assigned areas; ensures that departmental/facility cleanliness standards are met using the mobile Megamation checklist system; Monitors work orders, assigns staff as needed.

Performs duties of Custodian 2 and Custodian 3 when needed.

Shovel snow and apply ice melt when necessary.

As needed, check in and put away custodial supply orders upon arrival.

Performs any custodial related work as assigned by the Facilities Manager

What you bring as a candidate:

(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)

GED/High School Diploma

At least one year experience as a custodian supervisor

Knowledge of different custodian cleaning techniques and standards

Valid Washington State Driver License with a driving record that will not inhibit from being insured

Demonstrated ability to utilize a computer to complete timesheets and other employment-related tasks

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.

Ability to patrol campus on foot for several hours per day.

Ability to stand at one location for up to one hour.
