Terry O’Banion Student Technology Awards Recognize Outstanding Community College Technology Students
The League for Innovation will accept nominations for the 2024-2025 Terry O’Banion Student Technology Awards from League Board and Alliance member colleges starting in September. The awards are presented to two deserving students pursuing their education and a career in technology, and given annually in honor of Terry O’Banion, League President Emeritus and Senior League Fellow.
Award winners are designated as Student Technology Champion or Student Developer Champion. The Student Technology Champion award is presented to a student with a career interest in a technology field other than software development (e.g., hardware engineering, network administration, cybersecurity). The Student Developer Champion award is presented to a student with a career focus specifically in software development (e.g., programming, web development, SQL administration). Each winner will each receive $1,000 to be used toward their educational expenses (e.g., tuition, fees) and a plaque commemorating their achievement.
Nominations must convey students’ special talent in technology, passion about moving toward a career in technology, academic excellence, and strong financial need. Member colleges may nominate one student for each award category. Look for nomination instructions for Student Technology Champion and Student Developer Champion here.
