Melanie Lopez is a 2025?2026 League for Innovation Excellence Award recipient, recognized for her commitment to improving access, equity, and the student experience in higher education. She currently serves as an Admissions Advisor at Hudson County Community College, where she supports prospective and incoming students through the admissions and enrollment process. In her role, Melanie works closely with students who are navigating college for the first time, providing clear, supportive guidance at every step. As one of the few Spanish-speaking members of her team, she plays an important role in supporting Spanish-speaking students and families and helping reduce communication barriers. Since joining Hudson County Community College, Melanie has quickly made an impact through her initiative and student-focused approach. Her early contributions were recognized with HCCC?s Newbie Award, highlighting her strong transition into the role and positive influence on the department. She has helped improve communication materials, supported more efficient processes, and contributed to creating clearer, more student-friendly resources. Melanie brings nearly four years of experience in higher education from her time at Montclair State University?s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, where she grew into a leadership role while balancing her academic studies. During that time, she was honored with the Outstanding Student Worker of the Year award for her dedication, professionalism, and service to students. She now continues to focus her work on helping students feel informed, supported, and confident as they pursue their educational goals.
