For more than fifteen years, I have dedicated my career to the nonprofit sector, serving my community and supporting programs designed to create meaningful and lasting impact. During that time, I proudly helped both of my sons complete their college education. Watching their accomplishments inspired me to reflect on my own path. After years of investing in others?including training Executive Directors who often went on to become my supervisors?I realized it was time to invest in myself as well. That realization led me back to the classroom. I began my higher education journey at Hudson County Community College (HCCC), where I earned my Liberal Arts degree in 2019. My experience at HCCC was transformative. While my background in social work allowed me to support individuals and families, I discovered that my true passion was helping students find direction and opportunity. That passion opened the door to a new chapter: I was hired as a Recruiter for HCCC, a role I proudly held for four years. Helping students take their first steps toward their futures quickly became some of the most fulfilling work of my career. Determined to continue growing, I went on to earn my Bachelor?s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from New Jersey City University (NJCU) in 2021. Today, I am expanding that commitment by pursuing my Master?s in Higher Education Management at William Paterson University (WPU). Each academic milestone reinforces my dedication to advancing within higher education and supporting students from all backgrounds. I am truly honored to receive this award, as it represents not only the work I?ve done but also the journey I?ve taken?from returning to school as an adult learner, to discovering my calling, to helping others do the same. This recognition strengthens my commitment to serving institutions that value community, opportunity, and student success. My story reflects a belief I carry with me every day: it is never too late to invest in yourself, and the most meaningful impact comes from growing alongside the communities you serve.
