Biography:
Born and raised in California, I made my way to Arizona in 1990 and quickly learned that sunscreen is not optional. In high school, I was a dedicated athlete with a special love for volleyball ? so much so that I was invited to join the varsity team as a freshman and even lettered that same year. After moving to Arizona, I spent eight years as a photo lab manager before shifting gears to focus on raising my two boys. Once my youngest started kindergarten, I realized I missed adult conversations that didn?t involve cartoon characters or snack negotiations. So, I joined their school part?time, starting in the kitchen as the resident lunch lady. One year later, I was asked to become a kindergarten aide ? a role that brought me so much joy that I earned the district?s highest honor, the HUG Award, after my very first year. I spent three years in kindergarten, followed by three years in special education, before stepping into the Health Aide position. Life took a turn during that time as I navigated a divorce, and I knew I needed a full?time role with stability and benefits. When I heard about an administrative position at the district office, I took a deep breath, reminded myself that courage counts, and applied. I got the job ? and that leap of faith launched a 16?year career with the district, serving as the Before & After Care Admin, the Enrichment Admin, and eventually joining the finance department. After nearly two decades in K?12 education, I felt called to grow further and transition into higher education. That path led me to PVCC, where I?ve found a role that is not only rewarding but feels like the perfect next chapter in my journey.
