Ellery Paden Burgess

 

Biography:
Dr. E. Paden Burgess is from the central valley of California. His father (now retired) was a professional civil engineer. His father introduced him to the engineering profession. His family moved from the central valley to live in American Samoa as well as the state of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia. Living on small islands with little resources taught him to appreciate the culture of the many people of the world, resources and opportunities available where we live. Always supporting others, Paden Burgess, has been a sales/application engineer, a small business consultant, and now community college professor. As an engineer, he worked in the barcode reader, robotics, environmental sensing and single-board computer industries. As a business professional, he assisted over a hundred clients in starting or expanding their businesses. He's given presentations throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Korea, and Japan. Campus Activities: Student success and opportunities drive his focus. He is the college's advisory board member for the local engineering magnet high school, chapter advisor for PC SHPE (Porterville College Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), faculty mentor for NASA student challenges, MESA mentor, and participant in PC organization committees such as grant oversight and hiring committees. Interests: He has a wide variety of interests from education, business, computers, psychology, power systems, space technology, space discoveries, and mysterious phenomenon. Family: The creative and innovative work that he's doing would not be possible without the love and support of his wife, Dr. Sherie Burgess, and children. Philosophy: You can do anything. You just have to want it bad enough.
