Tracetta Short

 

Biography:
Tracetta Short, MS, BSN, RN, CNEcl, is a tenured Associate Professor of Nursing and the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Program Coordinator at Anne Arundel Community College. She provides academic leadership for the LPN program, a role she assumed in 2023, and has been instrumental in strengthening program retention, curriculum cohesion, and student outcomes. Professor Short also led the development and launch of an innovative LPN program at University of MD Baltimore Washington Medical Center, bringing academic and practice partners together and expanding regional workforce pathways. Professor Short earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; an Associate Degree in Nursing from the Community College of Baltimore County; and both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. A first-generation college graduate, she draws on her personal experience to shape a pedagogical approach grounded in access, engagement, and the success of diverse student populations. She has taught extensively in both the LPN and RN programs, applying evidence-based strategies to promote student achievement and professional readiness. Her professional interests include nursing workforce development, retention in practical nursing pathways, and inclusive, equity centered approaches to nursing education.
