Travis Mitchell
Biography:
After more than two decades working in television production, Travis recently joined the Arizona Western College marketing team to oversee communications and promotions for AWC?s Entrepreneurial College.
Travis has worked in communications in some form since he was 14. An internship for a class project during his freshman year of high school turned into a part-time job behind the scenes at a local broadcast TV news operation. He convinced his mother to let him homeschool for the rest of high school and was working full-time directing the weeknight newscasts as soon as he was legally old enough to do so.
After five years in that role, he joined the television production department at Arizona Western, acting as a de facto lab aide for TV production courses while also shooting, editing, and directing various productions for the college and its partners. His work as a director includes the inaugural TEDxAWC event, a nationally televised U.S. Senate debate, and multiple NJCAA national championship games and tournaments.
Several years ago, AWC launched the Entrepreneurial College as a `second pillar? of the institution, focusing on agility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of local residents and industries. Travis? current position is one of two on the marketing team dedicated to EC-related projects, so his responsibilities range from social media and campaigns for new programs to coordinating events for newly built facilities. His years of directing dynamic live broadcasts were ideal preparation for managing the constant changes and short lead times associated with promoting the innovative and agile workforce programs that the EC specializes in.
