Diana Frangina Galvez

 

Biography:
Diana Galvez brings over a decade of experience working in higher education. She has worked for the past fifteen years within the realms of student life, student services, and academic affairs. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Diana's story is intertwined with the vibrant tapestry of Hudson County. It was here that she completed her formative K-12 education, igniting her passion for learning. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hudson County Community College with an Associate of Arts in Sociology in May 2017. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology at New Jersey City University in January 2020, after completing an observational study in New Delhi, Agra, and Ahmedabad, India. She is currently pursuing her master?s degree in Administrative Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Diana's passion for student success shines through her multifaceted role at Hudson County Community College. As the chair of the JED Campus initiative, she leads efforts to promote student well-being and spearheads the parent group for JED. She is also an active member of the Parent Task Force, collaborating with Generation Hope?s FamilyU Cohort. These roles are especially meaningful to Diana as a student parent, fueling her dedication to identifying and removing barriers that impact the success of student parents in higher education. In addition to her work with JED and the Parent Task Force, Diana serves as an advisor for the Latin Society club and co-advisor for the Active Minds Chapter at HCCC, connecting students with critical resources and fostering a supportive environment for achievement. She is also a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus, serving as co-chair for the President?s Advisory Council for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and co-facilitator of La Hermanidad, a women-centered support group offering invaluable guidance and support to students, faculty, and staff.
