Biography:
Dr. Sonny Kelly is an award winning, world class performer, story teller, motivator, speaker, teacher and trainer. He holds a PhD in Communication & Performance Studies from UNC Chapel Hill (2020). Dr. Kelly is also a graduate of St. Mary?s University (MA, Communication Studies, 2008) and Stanford University (BA, International Relations, 1998). After serving our nation as a U.S. Air Force officer, Dr. Kelly has gone on to serve as non-profit organization director, university admissions counselor, award winning pharmaceutical salesman, college communications instructor, and a church youth pastor. As a lover of theater and performance, Dr. Kelly has acted professionally on stage and television for over 30 years. Dr. Kelly is also the playwright and director. He wrote and directed the gospel play Hope?s Light in 2009. He also penned and performed his original one-man performance called The Talk, through which he connects diverse communities to critical and connective conversations around race and difference across America. His latest works are one-man performances entitled The Ongoing Fight for Freedom, Haunted, Indivisible, and The Colored Soldier. Dr. Kelly?s work puts audiences in conversation with the ghosts that haunt America?s past and present. Currently, Dr. Kelly is an award-winning instructor of communication at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, NC. Dr. Kelly has been has performed across the nation as a storyteller, actor, motivator, lecturer, and trainer for over two decades. He is the founder and CEO of Legacy Heirs Productions, Inc.
