Jeff Cheng
Biography:
Dr. Chunfu Jeff Cheng joined the Business Department at the Community College of Aurora (CCA) in 2022 as a full-time faculty member and now serves as the Chair of the department. Since 2012, Dr. Cheng has been an educator in higher education, teaching a wide array of subjects including Engineering, Computer Science, and Business Administration. Prior to joining CCA, he served as a faculty member in the Business and Education Department at Seminole State College, OK, where he earned tenure as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Cheng has been actively involved in academic leadership and student engagement. He served as an advisor for the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society for eight years. His contributions were honored with an engraved brick in the Alpha Courtyard at the Center for Excellence, a space dedicated to recognizing individuals who have supported and advanced the ideals and mission of Phi Theta Kappa. He also served as President of the Faculty Senate and volunteered on numerous committees, demonstrating his dedication to enhancing the academic experience and promoting student success. His contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including 2024-2025 League Excellence Award from The League for Innovation in the Community College, a Citation of Congratulations from Senator Zack Taylor in Oklahoma, the Great Ideas for Teaching (GIFT) Award from the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges (OACC), and the Educator of the Month Award from Seminole State College.
As a scholarly practitioner, Dr. Cheng is committed to making a meaningful impact on students? lives through research and academic leadership. His doctoral research on community college dropouts was published in the book Taking Action: Creating Sustainable Change in Student Affairs. His research interests include areas of college dropouts, peer mentoring, student success, student engagement and retention in higher education.
Dr. Cheng holds five academic degrees, including an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Oklahoma City University and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University in Boston. In addition to his academic roles, he is a dedicated volunteer for various non-profit organizations.
