Jing Sun

 

Biography:
Jing Sun is a chemistry professor at Houston Community College. She earned her Master degree in medicinal chemistry at Zhejiang University in China and Doctor degree in organic chemistry at University of South Carolina, and she was working on developing peptide-based sensors for cancer diagnosis in graduate school. Jing started her teaching career as a lecturer at Georgia Southern University in 2012 and joined Houston Community College as a teaching faculty in 2017. She has taught various science courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, introduction of chemistry, environmental chemistry, and physics. Jing is enthusiastic in learning new technology and pedagogy as well as thinking of innovative ways to improve student learning experience by implementing new techniques into teaching. She is working on several projects, including game-based learning and open education resources development for organic chemistry lab modules. As an innovation fellow at HCC and a faculty mentor of LSAMP, she collaborates with colleagues to help students to develop innovative mindsets and skill sets.
