Biography:
Dr. Karen Phelan is an Associate professor of teacher education at Anne Arundel Community College. In addition to training K-12 teachers, she is the Chair of the Education Department and serves as a Co-facilitator of Learning College, an onboarding program for new faculty. Her previous experience includes teaching elementary and special education for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. She earned a bachelor?s degree in elementary and special education from the State University of NY at Geneseo, a master?s degree in reading from Loyola University, MD, and a Doctorate degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Northcentral University. ?What I most enjoy about teaching at a community college is the students; they are very inspiring. They come from many different circumstances, but each one is there to learn and grow and positively impact their life. Of course, since I train teachers, I feel double joy knowing that I can impact my students, and by extension, their future students as well.?
