Biography:
My name is Erin MacKenzie and I have been an instructor in higher education for about 20 years. I began at Weatherford College in August 2002 and taught a variety of courses: Microbiology, Biology, Zoology, Botany, and Forensic Science. We moved in 2006 to be closer to family and I started with Howard College as an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department. Over the years, I taught Microbiology, Biology, Zoology, Botany, Nutrition, and Anatomy and Physiology. During my time at Howard College, I also served in the role of Program Director (2009-2012), Dean of General Studies (2012-2014) and Administrative Dean Instruction and Student Services (2017-2020). We transferred to the Houston area in August of 2019 and I began working for Alvin Community College in January 2020. Currently I am an instructor in the Biological Sciences Department. I teach Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology. I am so honored to have been chosen for this award and incredibly thankful to be a part of Alvin Community College.
