Student Success Coach Professional Learning Framework: Advancing Equity, Empowering Students

Monroe Community College's Success Coach Professional Learning Framework is a comprehensive, equity-driven professional development system designed to train and continuously grow a team of 25 success coaches. Aligned with NACADA Core Competencies and designed for success coaches, the program also benefits campus professionals who support students from areas such as ASAP, TRIO, and EOP. Participants complete a suite of Brightspace modules covering topics such as transfer, financial aid, and veteran advising. Along with the on-demand asynchronous modules, success coaches have access to synchronous real-time training through MS Teams. Complementing digital learning, the framework includes a three-day in-person onboarding event, structured shadowing, quarterly advising forums, monthly training workshops, peer case review, and SUNY CPD coursework. Over 200 faculty and staff have engaged in this learning framework. Outcomes include contributing to a 17.2% increase in first-time college students, a 2% reduction in new-student melt, and a minority enrollment rate reaching 50.5%, demonstrating the framework's meaningful impact on equitable student success.
