CONNECT: Expanding Inclusive College Access Through CTP‑Approved Pathways
CONNECT is Johnson County Community College’s inclusive two‑year transition program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing full access to college courses, campus life, and on‑campus internships. Launched in 2022 and now federally approved as a comprehensive transition and postsecondary program (CTP), CONNECT enables students to audit or take credit-bearing classes; build self‑advocacy, social, wellness, financial, and technology skills; and earn a certificate in career development and leadership. The program integrates person‑centered planning, peer mentoring, and guided pathways, removing financial barriers through Pell Grant eligibility and creating equitable postsecondary opportunities that lead to greater independence, community connection, and employment.
