Summer Workforce Academy
The Summer Workforce Academy is a cohort-based workforce exploration and career readiness program developed by Carroll Community College’s Workforce, Business and Community Education division in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Carroll County. Launched in June 2022, the Academy has completed four cohorts and continues to evolve based on student feedback, employer input, and regional workforce needs. The program is designed as a community-facing opportunity, offering early exposure to career pathways and the college environment rather than serving as a recruitment initiative. Through the Boys & Girls Club partnership, the Academy reaches youth who benefit from trusted relationships and sustained support. Students participate in hands-on career exploration, labor market-informed learning, workplace readiness activities, and extended time on campus, building confidence, awareness, and familiarity with college and career options well before an enrollment decision is expected.
