Generative Leadership

There is no question that we live in increasingly complicated and complex times. These volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) environments require new and innovative leadership responses. There is a growing chorus that conventional ideas about leadership in our colleges and classrooms are not adequate for today’s challenges. We need new images of leadership that resonate throughout our colleges to drive innovation and imagination. This session explored what has been called Generative Leadership—leading with head, heart, and hand—and how it might be applied to resolving the most pressing problems in our colleges.

League Awards Celebration

After her keynote address, Spilde led a special tribute to 2022-2023 Innovation of the Year Award and 2023-2024 Excellence Award recipients. Recipients wore their lapel pins or medallions to this session in order to receive a copy of the League Awards Program, in which they are featured. At this celebration, all recipients were invited to stand with a colleague or fellow audience member to have their pins/medallions donned.
