Christopher Cody

 

Biography:
Dr. Christopher Cody teaches History and serves as the Chair of the All College Council at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City, NJ. He earned his B.A. in History from the University of Vermont, his M.A. in World History from Northeastern University, and his Ph.D. in World History from St. John's University. His doctoral dissertation explores the complex and profoundly important relationship between media and political power in the Middle East from 1952 to 2011. After teaching at several universities in and around New York City, Dr. Cody joined the HCCC faculty in 2019 as an adjunct instructor and then in 2022 became a full-time tenure-track instructor. At HCCC, Dr. Cody teaches US History I, US History II, Western Civilization I, and Western Civilization II. He also recently designed two new courses for the HCCC history department: World History II and History of the Islamic World. Dr. Cody is passionate about teaching history and mentoring students. In 2021, he was honored to win the National Society For Leadership and Success's Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Cody serves as Chair of the All College Council, HCCC's shared governance body which works to advance the college's mission by collaboratively creating, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures.
