Dr. Azhar Mahmood ? BIOGRAPHY Dr. Mahmood is a distinguished educator and accomplished chemical engineer with a wealth of experience in academia, research, and industry. With an illustrious academic background, he obtained his Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 2000, preceded by a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Manhattan College and further enhanced by an MBA from Rutgers School of Business. Throughout his career spanning over two decades, Dr. Mahmood has demonstrated a deep passion for teaching and a keen interest in the practical applications of chemistry. He has amassed over 15 years of teaching experience, imparting knowledge in various disciplines of chemistry, including Organic Chemistry, General College Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Fundamentals of Engineering design, among others. His commitment to excellence in teaching is evident in his role as a full-time faculty member at Hudson County Community College (HCCC) since 2012, where he has played an integral part in curriculum development for chemistry and physics courses. In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Mahmood has made significant contributions to research and industry. He completed post-doctorate studies at the Center for Advanced Proteomics Research at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, where he gained invaluable experience in protein analysis and mass spectrometry. His expertise extends to various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, analytical instrumentation, and chemical process industries, where he has held positions as a Research Scientist and Engineer. Dr. Mahmood's practical experience in formulation development, analytical analysis, and process design brings a real-world perspective to his teaching, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the application of chemistry in industrial settings. Dr. Mahmood's research endeavors have been supported by prestigious grants, including the NSF Advanced Technological Education grant. Moreover, Dr. Mahmood's entrepreneurial spirit and innovative mindset are evident in his role as the founder of the construction management program at HCCC, reflecting his dedication to interdisciplinary education and program development.
