I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Francis Marion University in Florence, SC. My Master of Science with a concentration in Human Physiology was from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. My graduate thesis involved investigating the prevention of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome with antioxidants, specifically alpha-tocopherol (Vitamin E). Further graduate work considered the effects of Interleukin-10 on sepsis and inflammation. At Dallas Baptist University, in Dallas, Texas, I also earned a Master of Liberal Arts in Religion and Political Science, with research on constitutional law and its implications for certain areas of science. At Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, I am in my second year of doctoral work in education, specializing in online curriculum and instruction. From 1999-2006, I served as an adjunct instructor and Lab Associate/Coordinator at Mountain View College, and as an adjunct instructor at Eastfield College, both part of the Dallas College System. I was also a Lifeguarding/CPR instructor, Water Aerobics Instructor, and Swim Instructor. In the fall of 2006, I began work as an adjunct Biology Instructor at York Technical College and became a full-time instructor in January 2017. I currently serve as the lead faculty adviser to Phi Theta Kappa and serve on the Nursing Advisory Board. I have taught Anatomy & Physiology, General Biology, and Fundamentals of Microbiology. In my "spare" time, I attend the symphony and volunteer at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Animal Care and Control Center Kitten Nursery bottle feeding and rearing abandoned kittens. I read voraciously, swim, and play my flute when I can. I spend a good deal of time taking care of my four cats and enjoy going to amusement parks and traveling with my sister to Charleston, Asheville, Washington, DC, New York City, and Las Vegas.
