Sean Smith

 

Biography:
Sean D. Smith serves as Department Chair and Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management at Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has been an active member of the League for Innovation in the Community College since joining FTCC. A native of Tampa, Florida, Dr. Smith graduated from Florida A&M University with his Bachelor's degree in Psychology. He went on to earn his Master of Management from Troy University while serving in the U.S. Army. In 2020, he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Dr. Smith honorably served in the U.S. Army for over 24 years, where his military experience gave him valuable leadership, logistics, and operations skills that he now imparts to his students. Prior to arriving at FTCC, he gained over two decades of industry supply chain and operations experience through the Army and with top manufacturing and distribution companies. This diverse background allows him to provide relevant, practical training to prepare students for success. As Department Chair, Smith grew the program into one of FTCC's most popular. He established employer partnerships to tailor the curriculum and integrated emerging technologies. Dr. Smith continues to participate in the ongoing development of the local educational ecosystem as well as advocate for stackable credentials and equity in CTE. Passionate about student achievement, he volunteers as a mentor. He guides students on identifying strengths, overcoming challenges, and advancing their education and training for high-demand careers. Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys cheering on his beloved Seminoles, spending time with his wife and two children, and serving as Senior Pastor for his church in Fayetteville, NC.
