CCTI Toolkit: Prince George's Community College

LAW, PUBLIC SAFETY, AND SECURITY

Project Summary

At Prince George's Community College, the College Career Transitions Initiative has played an important role in implementing our existing ideal of the "seamless pathways". Prince George's Community College/CCTI advisory committee members have placed a great emphasis on seeking to increase and improve further educational and career opportunities to those students who may have not been afforded the opportunity to consider such futuristic endeavors.

In order to accomplish our primary goal, we initially developed partnerships with one local high school, Potomac High School, and one local employer, the Laurel City Police Department. Our primary partners have actively participated throughout the implementation of this initiative.

We are seeking to expand our program, by including other local high schools within Prince George's County, Maryland. By doing so, we will expand our cohort population to include a more diverse population, thus being more representative of our county student population. We have also expanded our employer aspect by including Homeland Security representation on our committee.

The advisory committee members of the Prince George's Community College-College Career Transitions Initiative are extremely proud to be part of this awesome endeavor. We anticipate great success for those young individuals who are being provided an opportunity for future post-secondary and professional employment endeavors through the College Career Transitions Initiative.
