Summary and Purpose of Position: The Schools @ MCC serve as an academic home for students through a highly collaborative team approach to student success. Reporting to the Director of Schools and Integrated Pathways, the School Specialist is focused on the successful onboarding, retention, and completion of students, with particular emphasis on those students in the School Specialist's respective School. The School Specialist supports MCC's Schools and Guided Pathways model through various engagement strategies and activities that aim to connect students to the College and their School.

Primary Functions:
•Collaborate with deans, the Director of Schools and Integrated Pathways, faculty liaisons, faculty, and staff within the Schools on onboarding, retention, and completion efforts.
•Maintain a thorough working knowledge of academic programs and pathways within the School, including career and transfer options.
•Provide academic advisement and career exploration/coaching to students in the School.
•Maintain an advising caseload of Liberal Arts: General Studies students in the School's pathways.
•Connect students with appropriate campus resources.
•Collaboratively support Student Services initiatives and activities related to onboarding, retention, and completion for new and continuing students as designated by Dean or Director.
•Work with college systems and software to maintain and manage caseload advising activities and interventions, including responding to alerts and maintaining/reporting up-to-date documentation related to caseload of School students.
•Report on the persistence, retention, and completion objectives of students within the School on a consistent basis.
•Provide support in onboarding, retention, and completion activities and interventions, including Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals.
•Collaborate with liaisons, deans, and the Director of Schools and Integrated Pathways to develop and execute School events.
•Lead School Student Success Collaborative
•Provide specialized support to specialists and Schools staff in areas such as web-support, data and reporting, development of marketing materials, online professional development, or in-person training materials.
•Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Functions:
•Attend School/Division meetings as required, and department meetings within the School as appropriate.
•Serve on college-wide and School committees.
•Collaborate with the Director of Schools and Integrated Pathways and liaisons to provide training and support for School faculty on advisement processes and techniques.
•Provide coverage for other specialists as needed.
