Program Director II, Skilled-Trades and Industrial Technology

Function of Position:

The Program Director reports to the Vice President, Economic Development, Workforce and Career Technical Education. The Program Director provides expert oversight and management for manufacturing and skill-based education and customized training programs offered within Skilled Trades & Construction, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technologies as well as related Apprenticeship within the Economic and Workforce Development Center.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
•Conduct needs assessments for Economic & Workforce Development Center clients and determines appropriate training and academic programs solutions to meet customer needs
•Develop instructional program solutions or engage appropriate instructional resources with subject matter expertise to design and deliver programs meeting customer needs
•Coordinate with Monroe Community College faculty, department chairs, EDIWS Workforce Development staff, and representatives from other technical disciplines to research and promote new course programming
•Support appropriate faculty with resources to ensure quality training programs are delivered
•Develop proposals and budget planning for contract training and other industry-based programs within assigned oversight
•Determine and plan on-site recruitment, registration, advising activities and orientations for assigned credit and non-credit programs
•In partnership with division Corporate Relations personnel, address inquiries related to the programs offered and respond to initial CRM (Salesforce) generated leads
•Communicate with appropriate organizations, associations and government agencies (i.e. NYS DOL, NYSED Designated Education Local Agency (DLEA), RTMA, FAME and apprentice sponsor)
•Coordinate with the marketing team on the design of promotional literature for credit and non-credit program offerings within portfolio of oversight
•Participate in the Economic & Workforce Development Center budgetary process
•Assist with divisional grant development and execution, and coordinate award management with other departments as necessary
•Research and align innovative learning solutions program development to meet future industry workplace demands
•Coordinate with EDIWS Workforce Development Center and other divisional staff members to implement initiatives to meet divisional goals per the strategic plan
•Perform other related duties as assigned by the Vice President, Economic Development, Workforce and Career Technical Education

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
•Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution, or five to eight years of industry experience
•Demonstrated industry/workplace experience in a manufacturing-based field with appropriate subject matter expertise in skilled production, electrical, mechanical or related manufacturing technologies
•Subject matter expertise in developing, coordinating and implementing academic and training programs
•Experience in fostering academic success among underserved, diverse student populations and clients of the College
•Strong communication and customer service skills
•Excellent organizational skills
•Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
•An understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the community college

Preferred Qualifications:
•Earned master's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution
•Three years of experience in a management role with recruitment and placement
•Experience in student advisement
•Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades experience highly desirable
