Instructional Technologist - Auburn Hills, MI
Responsible for assisting faculty and staff in the use of current and new technologies for instructional purposes to support and improve student learning; Research, implement, and promote instructional technology throughout the college. Reports to Dean of Distance Learning, Academic Affairs. This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required.
Research emerging pedagogical technology and related ADA standards/tools.
Assist faculty and staff in the most effective use of technologies to support student learning.
Train faculty and staff on a variety of instructional technologies, including the Learning Management System.
Develop support documentation for various instructional technologies.
Develop and facilitate mandatory training for online teaching.
Assist faculty with the development of online courses.
Assist faculty with the development of ADA compliant course content and application of assistive technologies to support student learning.
Review online courses for ADA compliance.
Assist faculty with course evolution/enhancement using instructional technologies.
Assist with the development and execution of pedagogical learning forums.
Develop and maintain mandatory online readiness course for students.
Provide support for assessment activities.
Communicate with faculty on an ongoing basis regarding the availability and use of instructional technologies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of computer and information technologies used in student learning.
Skills in both verbal and written communication.
Ability to work as a team player in a multi-cultural diverse working environment.
Three years of current experience in instructional technology and/or instructional design with technology, higher education experience preferred.
Experience teaching in higher education or corporate training environment.
Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
Familiarity with any of these technologies or similar technologies:
Learning Management Systems (Desire2Learn, Blackboard, etc.)
Web-based Instructional Technologies (HTML5, CSS, Camtasia, etc.)
E-learning Authoring Platforms (Lectora, Captivate, etc.)
Graphics Programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
