Coordinator II, Course-Based Learning Assistance

Function of the Position:

The Coordinator II is responsible to develop, oversee, and coordinate the daily operations of the Course-Based Learning Assistance (CLA) program, which includes: Supplemental Instruction (SI), Structured Learning Assistance (SLA), embedded tutoring, and any other academic support program that targets traditionally difficult or barrier courses. This position also oversees academic support for CTE students at the Applied Technologies Center, and oversees use of Perkins funding for learning assistance. This position reports to the Director of Learning Support Systems.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilites:

• Assist Director and Dean to develop a CLA program
• Identify courses with a high enrollment/ low success rate or that are consistent barriers in students’ pathways to target for CLA
• Promote CLA to deans and faculty in identified courses
• Coordinate the launch of CLA in courses, continuously expanding section and course offerings
• Develop hiring guidelines and processes for CLA leaders
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate CLA leaders
• Assist CLA leaders in coordinating sessions
• Conduct weekly meetings with CLA leaders, follow up with CLA faculty
• Maintain student tracking system
• Develop an evaluation plan and evaluate the program
• Operate within Perkins grant guidelines
• Coordinate CLA for CTE courses using Perkins monies
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Learning Support Services

Required Qualifications:

• Earned bachelor’s degree in Education or closely related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution
• Two years of training or teaching experience; experience working with college faculty; technology proficiency
• Experience in successfully planning, executing and evaluating new programs and initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

• Earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited higher education institution
• Two years’ experience overseeing a tutoring program or other student support program in a college
• Completed Supplemental Instruction supervisor training
• Experience working with student tracking software systems
• Marketing experience
