Coordinator II, Apprenticeship (Temporary/Grant-sponsored)
Function of Position:
The Apprenticeship Coordinator reports to the Director of Curriculum Development and Apprenticeship. The Coordinator provides support for pre-apprentices and New York State registered apprentices. The Coordinator is responsible for advising, registering and tracking apprentices throughout their apprenticeship program. The Coordinator will also interface with companies sponsoring New York State registered programs along with communicating closely with Associate Sponsor. The Coordinator will support the College in expanding and managing pre-apprenticeship and registered apprenticeship initiatives.
*This is a grant-funded position, with a 3 year funding cycle.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
•Register, advise and enroll all New York State registered apprentices and pre-apprentices
•Support Director in coordinating with Associate Sponsor, industry stakeholders and secondary educational partners
•Plan, host and coordinate informational sessions, panel discussions, industry roundtables and other activities related to apprenticeships
•Supply appropriate documentation to company sponsors and Associate Sponsor for all New York State registered apprentices enrolled in related instruction at MCC
•Communicate with appropriate organizations, associations and government agencies (i.e. New York State Department of Labor, New York State Education Department, Designated Local Education Agency (DLEA), Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association (RTMA), Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise and apprentice sponsor)
•Coordinate all activities associated with pre-apprenticeship programs at MCC; this may include application day events, company signing day events, tracking of youth apprentice in 11th grade job-shadowing and paid co-op in 12th grade year
•Monitor dual credit of youth apprentice that promotes pathways to academic certificate, associate's degree and approved related instruction in registered apprenticeship programs
•Expand Pre-Apprenticeship programs to multiple industry sectors that align with secondary and post-secondary pathways to college credentials and registered apprenticeship programs
•Coordinate with Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services staff and other divisional members to implement initiatives to meet divisional goals per strategic plan
•Perform other related duties as assigned
